He is survived by: his son Aaron Matthews of Shreveport; his close friend David Vandemark of Dallas; his sister Diane Matthews Spurlock of Bossier City; his nephew Judd Spurlock (Sarah) of Porter, Texas; his niece Whitney Gaines (Tony) of Haughton; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Hugh Spurlock, Tatum Rodgers, Henry Spurlock, Hattie Spurlock and AvaTess Rodgers.
