He was predeceased by: his wife Letha Powell; his parents, Arizona Powell and Wid Powell; his brothers, Bill Powell, George Powell, Foy Powell, Troy Powell of Curtis Powell, A. C and Frank Powell; his daughter Donna Powell; and his son-in-law Dennis Blankenship.
He is survived by: his sister Janie McCoulsky; his children, Dick Powell (Nancy), Karan Blankenship and Sara Barefoot (Robert); his grandchildren, Anne Valenzano (Frank) and Nathan Powell (Amanda); his daughters, Letha Currin (Chris) and Cori Stancil (Stephen); and his great grandchildren, Abigail, Ethan, Deacon Valenzano, Jack Currin, Meredith and Emilia Powell.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 5th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Chapel of the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home (7200 Desiard Street, Monroe, LA 71203). A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 5th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home or North Monroe Baptist Church Missions.
