He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Ochiltree Bancroft Sr. and Vada Lee Speed Bancroft; and his siblings, T. O. Bancroft Jr. and Arabella Bancroft Cann. He is survived by: his former wife Nancy Bancroft; his children, Anna Bancroft Herd, Elizabeth Holland Bancroft Laperouse and Frederic Speed Bancroft Jr.; his sons-in-law, Jason Herd and Mark Laperouse; his grandchildren, Britt, Caleb Herd, Toby, Harris, Jackson and Sutton Laperouse; and also, Jacy Barron, Chris Stanton, Lily Eddy and Shannon Rice.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 10th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Grace Episcopal Church (1400 N 4th St, Monroe, LA 71201).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund, in honor of Speed's lifelong affection for the Texas Hill Country, where he and all his children spent their summers attending camp, or to Trees for a Change by honoring Speed with a tree planted in his name in a National Forest.
