He was predeceased by: his wife Carolyn Ann Willis Chambers; his parent F. C. Chambers; and his sisters, Charlotte Haynes and Nelline Eldridge. He is survived by: his children, Chalica Chambers Thompson, Chuck Chambers, Chris Chambers and Dr. Craig Chambers (Nancey). He is also survived by eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in honor of his beloved grandson, Jeremy Thompson.
