She was predeceased by: her sons, Augusta "Mose" Whitfield and Elijah "Bo Jack" Whitfield; her husband Colony D. Newton, Sr.; and her sons, Colony D. Newton, Jr. and Raymond Newton.
She is survived by: her children, Cessie Newton of Monroe, LA, Luella Newton-Wade (Reuben) of Houston, TX, Madesta Lamb of Monroe, LA, Tommy Lee Newton (Shelia) of Monroe, LA., Willie Newton (Rebecca) of Monroe, LA. and Ricky D. Newton of Monroe, LA.; and her sisters, Hattie Lloyd and Mary Simmons (Eugene).
Visitation was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM at 1901 Burg Jones Ln, Monroe, LA 71202. A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Green Grove Baptist Church (2432 Winnsboro Road, Monroe, LA 71203). A burial was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at the Green Grove Baptist Church Cemetery of Alto (95 Green Grove Rd, Rayville, LA 71295).
