He was predeceased by: his parents, Alex Cicero Johnson and Beulah Lator Johnson; his son Ronald David Johnson; and his siblings, Lillian Smith, Arvil Johnson, Nathan Johnson and Donald Johnson.

He is survived by: his sons, Jimmy Don Johnson (Robyn) and Kevin Deon Johnson; his siblings, Betty Gilmore, Hershel Johnson, Albert Johnson and Terry Johnson; and his grandchildren, Kolby Crew (Cassie) and Hunter Varino. He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
