She was predeceased by: her parents, Mattie Lucinda Hawthorne Higdon and W. B.'Doc'Higdon; her brother William Bert Higdon; her sister-in-law Emily Alice Blomquist Higdon; and her daughter Alexandra Rebecca Stern.

She is survived by: her children, Cheryl Ann Wood Spiers, Lisa Stern Crawford (Steve Crawford) and LeRoy William Stern (Lee); her grandchildren, Susan Alyse Pullium, Will Crawford (Haley), Leah Crawford and Ben Crawford; her great grandchildren, Ava Grace Pullium and Chloe Pullium; and her nieces and nephews, Kathy Stern, Mike Stern, Mark Stern (Benny), Ellen Higdon Caldwell and Jackie Higdon Guerriero.
