He was predeceased by: his parents, Sarah Reneau Yates and William M. "Big Duke" Yates. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Ann Davis Yates; his sons, William M. "Matt" Yates III (Terri), Jerry Paul Yates and John Yates (Linda); his grandchildren, Jay Yates (Heather), Gabrielle Yates (Andre Carter), Christian Yates, Christy Yates (Nathan Crowther), McKayla Yates and Jonathan Yates; his great grandchildren, Emma and Issak Yates; and his nieces, Jackie, Kelly, Jennifer and Lisa.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 3rd 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Rowland Road Baptist Church (336 Rowland Rd, Monroe, LA 71203). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 3rd 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Thursday, July 3rd 2025 at the Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery (623 US-80, Monroe, LA 71203).
