He was predeceased by: his wife Martha Kelly Gilchrist; his parents, Daniel Gilchrist and Ida Ray Gilchrist; his son Hubert Gilchrist; his grandson Joseph Gilchrist, Jr.; and his brothers, Herbert Gilchrist and Daniel Gilchrist.
He is survived by: his children, Rodney Gilchrist (Tonal), Joseph Gilchrist and Denisa Acosta; his grandmother Campo (Rodney); and his siblings, Joe Gilchrist, Margaret Buck and Betty Kelly. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren.
