He was predeceased by : his parents, Joseph Sandifer and Effie Sandifer; and his wife Ruth Sandifer. He is survived by : his daughter Nadia Derouen (Josh); his granddaughter Elianah Derouen; his stepsons, Aaron Lopez (Dina) and Kendal Lopez (Karen); and his stepgrandchildren, Corey Lopez and Mea Richard. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Friday, April 12th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff (2171 US-171, Lake Charles, LA 70611). A funeral service was held on Friday, April 12th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
