He is survived by: his wife Margaretta Pousson Thornton; his children, Holly Ann Berger (Marc) of The Woodlands, James Alan Thornton (Tiffany) and Mykenzie Rae Thornton of Moss Bluff; his grandchildren, Zachary Berger, Sadie Berger, Jaxson Thornton, Colton Thornton, Ava Thornton and Aerial Oestriecher (Luke); his great grandchild Gunner Oestriecher; his siblings, Ellen Verrett, Faye Conner (Bob), Kenneth Thornton (Ruth), Linda Burnett (Glen), Brenda Prosser (Bugsy), Jimbo Barentine (Paige) and Mark Thornton (Darlene); his brother-in-law Melvin Maddox; and his godson Austin Verrett (Emilee). He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Viewing was held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Johnson Funeral Home - Moss Bluff (2171 US-171, Lake Charles, LA 70611). A rosary was held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 from 6:00 PM to 6:15 PM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the Westlake Memorial Cemetery (410 Fletcher Rd, Westlake, LA 70669). A burial will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 at 1:30 PM at the same location.
