He was predeceased by: his daughter Deirdre Thompson; his grandson Dominic Tyler; his parents, Rose Murphy, and George Murphy, Jr.; and his siblings, Stewart Murphy, Elvert Murphy, Daniel Murphy, George Murphy III, Rose Murphy, Elizabeth Murphy and Viola Freeman.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Murphy; his children, Christopher Tyler (Keisha), Jaquan Johnson, Javon Johnson, Nichol Tyler and Tiffany Brown (Demetrius); and his siblings, Harvey Murphy, Dorothy Thompson and Mary Dunmiles. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, August 28th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and on Saturday, August 29th 2026 at 9:00 AM at the Williams & Southall Funeral Home (5414 LA-1, Napoleonville, LA 70390). A funeral service was held on Saturday, August 29th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
