With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Betty Josephine Smith (Natchitoches, Louisiana), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on September 30, 2025 at the age of 91. She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Sidney Prudhomme, Sr. and Angvie Edwards Prudhomme; her husband Lorenza Dean Smith, Sr.; her brother Charles Sydney Prudhomme Jr.; her son-in-law Robert Earl Hamm; and her great grandchild Zachary Chase Martin.
She is survived by: her children, Lorenza Dean Smith, Jr. (Maryan), Tamala Renee Hamm, Christopher Alan Smith (Julie) and Kimberly Ann Cain; her grandchildren, Sydney Williams (Brandon), Mallory Smith (Danny), Joshua Hamm, Sr. (Julie), Katie Martin (Zack), Christopher Smith (Jessica), Richard Smith (Sierra) and Rebecca Smith; and her siblings, Rose Menou (Mike), Deborah Powell, Doris Bowden, Tedd Prudhomme (Lorna), Richard "Dickie" Prudhomme (Jennifer) and Danny Prudhomme (Sandy). She is also survived by seventeen great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, The Bridge Alzheimer's and Dementia Resource Center, or any other dementia related charity.
