He was predeceased by: his daughter Carlyi Odea Butler; and his mother Mary Howard. He is survived by: his son Carlos Y. Cook, Jr. (Jyla); his grandchildren, Alexandria, Alex'Aria, Carmen, Caylee, Carlos III and Carson; the mother of his children Nedra Butler Thomas; his close friend Brandon; and his grandmother Gloria. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins.
