He was predeceased by: his parents, Julia (Mike Kontos) and Chris; his wife Mary Vlahos of Biloxi; and his sister Georgette Zarafonetis. He is survived by: his children, Joanne Kontos Byrne (Kevin Byrne), Katherine Kontos Tadros and Michael Kontos (Deirdre Ryan); his grandchildren, Christopher Byrne, Katie Byrne Brooks (Keagan Brooks), Nicholas Tadros (Sarah Tadros), Alexia Tadros and Chris Tadros; and his great grandchildren, Charlotte Brooks and Eleni Tadros.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 5th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Holy Trinity Cathedral (1200 Allen Toussaint Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70122). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, December 5th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Friday, December 5th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:15 PM at the Hope Mausoleum (4841 Canal St, New Orleans, LA 70119).
