He was predeceased by: his parents, David Blackshear Hamilton Chaffe, Jr. and Enola Inez Verlander Chaffe; and his siblings, Martha McIlwaine Chaffe Weese and John Francis Coleman Chaffe. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Rawlins McIver Chaffe; and his children, Mary Hamilton Chaffe Brooks (late Alan), David Blackshear Hamilton Chaffe IV (Stephanie), William Bryan McIver Chaffe (Mary) and Anne McIlwaine Chaffe Eichin (Tedrowe). He is also survived by nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Trinity Episcopal Church (New Orleans and Pass Christian), Saint Charles Ave. Presbyterian Church, and the Manning Family Children's Hospital.
