He was predeceased by: his brother Robert A Messina; and his grandparents, Vinca, Vincent Messina and Esther J. Jacobs. He is survived by: his wife Laura L. Messina; his brother Dale David Messina; his stepchildren, Tiffany A Zauner and Hampton L Zauner; his grandson Dale Alexander Zauner; and his friend Gary.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers contributions be made to Hope Outdoors a charitable organization catering to developmentally challenged children.
