With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Iola Pugh Hunter of New Orleans, Louisiana, born in Paincourtville, Louisiana, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on September 26, 2025 at the age of 83. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband Deacon Levin Hunter; her parents, Theophus Pugh and Lizzie Pugh; her siblings, Theophus, Martin, Curtis, Leroy, John, Larry, Verda, Bernice and Linnie; her siblings' child Courtney; and her godchild Quincy Brown.
She is survived by: her sisters, Leola Pugh Brown and Rosa Pugh-Jones (Willie); her godchild Dr. Rashaad Pugh-Jones; and her cousin Patricia Jones. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Second Mount Everest Baptist Church (2528 First St, New Orleans, LA 70113). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
