Jean Marie Smith Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Jean Marie Smith of New Orleans, Louisiana, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on November 23, 2025 at the age of 89. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid Jean farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Jean is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
She was predeceased by: her husband O'Neal Manor Smith; and her children, Donna Mitchell and Walter McGee. She is survived by: her children, Lawrence McGee, Linda McGee, Nicole Smith Guidry (Calvin) and Karen Lewis-Holmes (Joel); and her sisters, Jocelyn Metoyer Lewis and Priscilla Metoyer. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, one great- great-grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews, other devoted family members and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, December 6th 2025 at 9:00 AM at the Charbonnet Labat Glapion Funeral Home (1615 St Philip St, New Orleans, LA 70116). A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 6th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
