She was predeceased by: her husband David Carter; her parents, Ben Charles, Sr. and Fennie Charles; her siblings, Ben Charles, Jr., Rhodie Branner and Gertrude Baker; and her parents-in-law, Willie and Fannie Carter.
She is survived by: her sons, Mark Carter (Easter) and Alvin Ruffin; and her siblings, Dallas, Ferdinand (Doris), Stanley (Favette), Ronald (Alece), Felton and Patricia. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
