She is survived by: her children, Clothilda Kempt-Mitchell, Colleen Kempt James and John Kempt Jr. (Ava); her grandchildren, John Kempt III, Matthew James (Cassandra), Devyn Williams (Reggie), Reina Kempt (Candice), Janelle James, Joy Mitchell and Quinton Mitchell (Laura); her great grandchildren, Kennedy, Naomi, JaCora, Eli, Chloe, Aaron, Adrianna, Sergio, Brynn and Wesley; her brother Albert Ballard Jr. (Barbara); and her sister-in-law Irene Thibodaux. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, her dedicated caregivers.
A wake will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Genesis Missionary Baptist Church (1820 N Robertson St, New Orleans, LA 70116). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Little Zion Baptist Church (832 E North St, Opelousas, LA 70570).
