She was predeceased by: her parents, Eshand, Sr. Minor and Clara Minor; her husband John E. Prater; her son Darryl Prater; her grandson Christopher Montegue, Sr.; and her nephew Harry Dotson.
She is survived by: her son Carlos Prater (Michele); her sibling Shirley M. Dotson; her nephew Woodrow Minor; her grandchild Roque Caston, Jr.; her great grandchildren, Christione, Christopher Jr., Chrisshawn and D'Anna Montegue; her godchildren, Ursula Borland and Eric D. Minor; and her friends, Geraldine Robertson (Jerry), Doris Puller and Larry Jones. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.
