It is with sadness that the passing of Rita Murphy (New Orleans, Louisiana) is shared. Rita, born on September 29, 1941, passed away on September 21, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, America and Irmgard; and her sister Herta. She is survived by: her husband Jerry; her daughters, Angela (Tim), Susan and Courtney (JP); her grandchildren, Celeste (Sean), Pearce and Connor; and her brothers, Karl and Heinz.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home (5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124). A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the same location. A committal service will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Rita's name to the Dementia Society of America.
