She was predeceased by: her parents, Ruben Brooks and Essie "Queen" Brooks; and her siblings, Barbara, Herman, Morris, Willie Dee Brooks, Catherine Washington, Shirley Davis and Janie Banks.
She is survived by: her children, Cowanda James (Troy), Earnest Brooks, Jermaine Brooks (Lataria), Harold Brooks and Sonny Scott Jr.; her close friend Sonny Scott Sr.; and her siblings, Sam Jones, Adell, Percy, Cleo Brooks, Teritha Parks (Freddie), Sara, Mary, Yvette and Mary Alyce Brooks. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren.
