He was predeceased by: his parents, Gloria Hebert Fredricks and Alfred Fredricks; and his siblings, Darlene Fredricks and Anthony "Sal" Fazzio. He is survived by: his wife Mary Fredricks; his children, Daynell Seruntine (Dean Seruntine), Joyce Juneau, Tina Ribas (MSgt), Amanda Cornwall and Daniel Cornwall; his siblings, Lois Terese and Ricardo Fredricks (Denise Fredricks); and his close friends, Saint Jones, Brandon Nodier and Ronald Comadore. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

After Hurricane Katrina, he played an important role in helping rebuild New Orleans and was recognized with an award for his contributions to the city's recovery—something he took great pride in.
