We bid farewell to Edward Harper McDowell of Oak Grove, Louisiana, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on May 13, 2024 at the age of 85. Edward Harper touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by : his wife Joyce Elizabeth McDowell; his parents, Gurvase Vernon McDowell and Jewell McDowell; and his brothers, John F. McDowell and James McDowell.

He is survived by : his daughters, Kristal Young of Whitesboro, Texas and Amy LaRavia of Oak Grove, Louisiana; his grandchildren, Ethan Young of Whitesboro, Brent Young of Bonifay, Sarah Strong (Bryan) of Oak Grove and Ben LaRavia of Oak Grove, Louisiana; his great grandchild John Michael Strong of Oak Grove, Louisiana; and his sisters, Claudene Stephens of Oak Grove and Joan Priddy of Vicksburg, Mississippi. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 15th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cox Funeral Homes - Oak Grove Chapel (200 E Noble St, Oak Grove, LA 71263). A funeral service was held on Thursday, May 16th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Kilbourne (145 Center St, Oak Grove, LA 71253).
