He was predeceased by : his wife Johnnie Mae Ainsworth Sanders; his siblings, Dean Sanders and Earnestine Thompson; and his parents, Cecil Sanders and Juliette Sanders.

He is survived by : his granddaughter LeAnne Russell; his children, Risa French (Chris), Clay Sanders (Kellye) and John Ardis Mcmillon; his grandchildren, Rodrick Russell (Megan), Cole Russell (Abby), Brooke Kirby (Jeremy), Drew Johnson (Adam), Natalie Reeves, Amy Brantley and Mackayla McMillon; and his brother Matt Sanders. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 23rd 2024 from 4:30 PM to 9:00 PM at the Hill Baptist Church (402 Hill Church Rd, Oak Grove, LA 71263). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 24th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
