He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Meche and Evelyn Stelly; and his siblings, Ludovic Meche, Nathan Meche and Myrtle Meche Raymond.

He is survived by: his wife Shirley Fontenot Meche of Opelousas; his children, Gary Meche of Broussard, Darrell Meche (Cathy) of Lafayette, Tommy Meche (Lisa) of Huntsville, TX, Brent Meche (Phyllis) of Lafayette and Linda Meche Crochet of Baton Rouge; his grandchildren, Donavon Meche, Jennifer Meche, Christine Meche Montet, James Meche, Danielle Meche, Jared Meche, Alya Meche, Angelle Crochet, Nicole Crochet, Brittney Meche Guidry and Caleb Meche; his great grandchildren, Dakota Meche, Haydon Meche, Kayson Meche, Kaedyn Meche, Sofia Meche and Zeke Guidry; and his brother Donnie Meche (Ruth) of Metairie.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Wounded Warrior Project.
