He was predeceased by: his wife Drucella "Drucie" Frugé Harper; and his parents, James Marion and Martha E. Uselton Harper. He is survived by: his children, John Harper of Baton Rouge and Tina Harper Gilliam (Ronald) of Trenton, TN; his stepdaughter Denise Castille Miller of Denham Springs; his grandchildren, Brandie L. Gilliam of Shelbyville, KY and Keri Beth Gilliam of Milan, TN; his stepgrandchildren, Rachel Miller of Denham Springs and Joseph "Kyle" Miller of Denham Springs; his great grandchildren, Coby Rainey of Shelbyville, KY. and Mya Mae McCann of Milan, TN; and his sister Sandra Harper Marks (Wayne) of Opelousas. He is also survived by nephews, nieces and cousins.
A graveside service was held on Monday, January 12th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Bellevue Memorial Park (4833 LA-182, Opelousas, LA 70570).
