He is survived by: his wife Mary Ann Cancienne Matherne; his children, Kirk Matherne (Lisa), Kristin Matherne and Kara Dufrene (Randy); and his siblings, Gordon Matherne, Elsie Tauzin and Thelma Leehans. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 13 great- grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church (15405 US-90, Paradis, LA 70080). A Mass will be held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 11:30 AM at the same location.
