She was predeceased by: her parents, George Dewey and Eva Kincaid; her brothers, Irving Dewey, Jessie Dewey and Oscar Dewey; and her grandchild Kylin Dewey.
She is survived by: her husband Vernell Griffin of Patterson, Louisiana; her daughters, Monica Leonard (Terry) of Centerville, Sophia Dewey of Patterson, Louisiana, Paula Dewey of Patterson, Louisiana and Candance Clark (George "June") of Patterson, Louisiana; her siblings, George Dewey (Rose) of Patterson, Louisiana, Genevieve Riles (Robert) of Las Vegas, Donna Gash of Patterson and Mary Crosby of Patterson, Louisiana; and her godchildren, Lashana Bennett of Schriever, Jeremy Smith (Tiffany) of Patterson and Eric Louis of Lafayette, Louisiana. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren; along with a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 31st 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the New Salem Baptist Church (1412 Cherry St, Patterson, LA 70392). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 31st 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
