He was predeceased by: his wife Helen Boutte Mathieu; his sons, Carl "Babyface" Mathieu and Kenneth Mathieu; and his parents, Joseph Ornest Mathieu and Hilda Mouton Mathieu.
He is survived by: his children, Patrick Mathieu (Almera) of Lafayette, Mark Mathieu of Carencro, Lisa Mathieu-Johnson (Stephen) of Lafayette, Brenda Mathieu-Ozene (Kevin) of Lafayette and Angela Mathieu of Lafayette; his grandchildren, Derek Ozene, Carl Mathieu Jr., Gavin Mathieu, Dylan Landry, Presley Mathieu, India Mathieu, Quincy Hamilton and Gracie Mathieu; and his sisters, Paulette Mathieu of California and Lou Ann Mathieu Moses of Broussard. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 26th 2025 at 8:00 AM at the Melancon Funeral Home (4117 N University Ave, Carencro, LA 70520). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 26th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
