He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmus Ezell and Bertha Lee Humphreys Crooks; his brother-in-law Ernest Baxley; and his nephew Jay Baxley. He is survived by: his wife Billie Sue Sermons Crooks; his daughters, Gilda Davis (Roger) of Dry Prong and Belinda Kendrick (Ronnie) of Baton Rouge; his grandchildren, Shane Davis (Amber), Scarlet Davis Freeman (Michael) and Zach Kendrick; his great grandchildren, Taylor Freeman, Brittany Freeman Fulmer (Blake) and Josh Davis; his great great grandchild Brett Michael Fulmer; and his sister Carolyn Baxley of Winnfield. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Sunday, September 13th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Monday, September 14th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Pineville (2701 Military Hwy, Pineville, LA 71360). A funeral service was held on Monday, September 14th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
