She was predeceased by: her husband Donald Essmeier; her parents, Tim Sikes and Tessie Dosher Sikes; her son Kevin Hughes; her siblings, Billy Sikes, Sue Smith and Maxine Spinks; and her daughter-in-law Patty Hughes.
She is survived by: her sons, Kent Hughes (Dedra) of Monroe, LA and Micah Hughes (Mary) of Jonesville, LA.; her stepchildren, Jedd Essmeier (Paula) of Quiptman, LA., David Essmeier (Lisa) of Dodson, LA., Susan Grover (John) of Keene, NH. and Katheryn Tuttle (Tracey) of Rockwell; her brothers, Doyle Sikes (Jean) of Jonesville, LA and Kenneth Sikes; her nephew Gerald; her niece Amy Huffman; and her grandchildren, Corey Hughes (Stacey), Joseph "Beau" Hughes (Emily), Jolee Brixey (Justin), Kaley White (Paul) and Micahla Hughes. She is also survived by 7 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-great-Granddaughter.
