He was predeceased by: his grandmother Maybell Nelson; his uncle Greg Linn; and his great-grandparents, Charlie and Mela Mae McLain. He is survived by: his children, Destiny Freeman (Justin), Kinsley Carter, Charlie Carter, Keegan Carter and Logan Earnest; his grandsons, Waylon and Noah Freeman; his parents, Vernon Carter, Sr. (Kathy) and Cheryl Upshaw (Douglas); his sister Cynthia Carter (Zach); his nephew Mason; his brothers, Eric Carter and Brandon Carter; his nieces and nephews, Jessalyn, Payton and Kymzie; his stepsiblings, Tracy Upshaw, Maegan Baum, Vanessa Perry, Chase Baum (Emily) and Doug Upshaw, Jr.; his grandfather William Carter (Helen); and his aunt Janet Nugent. He is also survived by extended family and friends.
