He is survived by: his wife Margaret Spencer Smiley; his sister Lynda Smiley Morgan; his children, Susan Smiley Desmond (Charles), Amanda Smiley Wettemann (Wayne) and James William Smiley; his stepchildren, Ray Powell (Theresa), Lisa Elam (Greg) and Lara Hixson (David); and his stepgrandchildren, Charles Hayden Desmond, Zachary Christian Desmond, Nik Wettemann, Alexis Rachel Wettemann, Kaitlyn Powell, Abby Powell, Meredith Elam, Madalyn Elam, Megan Elam, Mara Elam, Natalie Hixson, Jacob Hixson, Jonathan Hixson, Caleb Hixson and Silas Hixson.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 8th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home - Springhill (304 First Street, Northwest Springhill, LA 71075). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 9th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
