He was predeceased by: his parents, James Mendoza and Daisy Ashley Mendoza of Bayou Chene, Louisiana.; his aunt Mame Voisin; and his siblings, Orie, Hubert, Charles, Calvin, Ivan Mendoza and Lillie Alexander.
He is survived by: his wife Doris Day Mendoza; his daughters, Hayley Mendoza Brown (Chad) and Ashley Mendoza (Bobby Messenger); his grandsons, Clayton Brown, Christian Brown and Reid Mendoza; and his siblings, Gary, Dean (JoAnn), Mark Mendoza (Sylvia), Beverly Ray and Ruth Pence (Gary). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
