He is survived by: his wife Janet Marie Miller Middleton; his daughters, Catherine Michelle Griffith (Nick), Caroline Poynter Middleton (Jimmie Sanderson) and Nancy Barker Middleton Theriot (Bo Burton); his grandchildren, Erin, Gordon, David, Haley, Michael, Nicholas, John, Kendall, Mariah, Charles, Mia, Zachary, McKai, Caleb and Jack; his brother Edward Barker Middleton (Susanne "Sue" Clouatre); his parents-in-law, Owen A. Miller, Jr. and Catherine B. Miller; his brother Stephen R. Miller; and his sister-in-law Lisa Ranae Miller. He is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Michael's honor to St. Jude Children's Hospital or St. John the Evangelist 100-year anniversary capital campaign.
