It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bennett Michael Ellis of Port Barre, Louisiana, born in Opelousas, Louisiana, who passed away on July 14, 2025, at the age of 9, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his grandfather John August Fontenot; and his great-grandparents, James Ellis, Randy Hooks, Dorothy Coon and Ethel Fontenot.
He is survived by: his parents, Phillip Ellis and Meghan Fontenot Ellis; his siblings, William and Caroline Ellis; his grandparents, Carolyn Fontenot, Michael "Scottie" Ellis and Sabrina Ellis; his great-grandparents, Verbal Ellis, JoAnn Camarata and James Fontenot; his uncle Corey Stears; and his godmother Camille Heneghan.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 18th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, July 19th 2025 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Calendar Skip Montet Chapel at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas (2845 S Union St, Opelousas, LA 70570). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:15 AM at the Calendar Bellevue Memorial Park (4833 LA-182, Opelousas, LA 70570).
