Joseph Thornton Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Joseph Thornton of Port Barre, Louisiana, who passed away on August 9, 2025 at the age of 54. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Monroe Thornton, Sr. and Helen Faye Linton Thornton; his brother Willard Keith Thornton; his mother-in-law Charlene Whipp-Stelly; and his nephew Kevin LeChompte.

He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Cortez Thornton; his children, Gabriel'Gabe'Thornton (Melissa), Micah Barton (Cory), Gabrielle Thornton, Lance Pitre (Tabinique), Gavin Pitre (Jeanne) and Donovan Thibodeaux (Hollyn); his grandchildren, Ace, Arthur, Blaze, Owen, Layla, Taylor and Baby Grace; his siblings, Shanon Michel (Chris), Carol Smith (Mike) and Charles Thornton, Jr.; his parents-in-law, Darrel and Linda Cortez; his sisters-in-law, Billie Cortez (Keenen), Tanya Cortez (Luke) and Michelle'Renee'Cortez; and his close friend Shedrick'Bones'Thomas. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, guests are asked to bring a photo of themselves with Brian to be added to a Memory Board at the celebration.
