With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Curley Joseph Sonnier (Rayne, Louisiana), who passed away on February 22, 2026 at the age of 103. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Gracie "Peachie" Cook Sonnier; his parents, Felix Sonnier and Josephine Dupre Sonnier; and his siblings, Bertha Sonnier, Mary Elda Sonnier Francis, Willie "Pat" Sonnier, Percy Sonnier and Felix "Joe" Sonnier.
He is survived by: his children, Judith Sonnier of Baker, LA, Grover Lee Sonnier (Sharon) of Moreno Valley, CA and Paul Sonnier (Janet) of Clinton, UT; his grandchildren, Derek Sonnier, Tracie Sonnier, Lance Sonnier, Cherron Sonnier-Vaden, Alexis Sonnier, Paul Sonnier, Jr. and Brittany Sonnier; and his sibling's children, Pearlie Mae Arceneaux, Mary Linda Sonnier and Nicholas Hogan. He is also survived by seventeen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild.
Visitation was held on Saturday, March 7th 2026 from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Gossen Funeral Home Inc. (504 N Polk St, Rayne, LA 70578). A rosary was held on Saturday, March 7th 2026 at 9:30 AM at the same location. A Mass was held on Saturday, March 7th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Shrine of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church (600 W. Jefferson Davis St, Rayne, LA 70578). A burial was held on Saturday, March 7th 2026 at the St. Joseph Cemetery (400 E Betty St, Rayne, LA 70578).
