It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Alverne Hood Morton of Ruston, Louisiana, who passed away on October 23, 2025, at the age of 99, leaving to mourn family and friends. In the vast expanse of eternity, Alverne shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid Alverne farewell, her loved ones carry with them the precious gift of her memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn.
She was predeceased by: her husband J. W. Morton; her parents, Albert Hood and Mary Bell Minter Hood; and her children, Suzy Morton Hill and Steve Morton.
She is survived by: her children, Mark W. Morton (Eileen) and Rebecca Morton Howard of Ruston, LA. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and 2 great- great- grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family asked that memorials be made to Outdoor Wilderness Learning Center or 4 Paws Rescue Center.
