He is survived by : his son Robert Gilbert (Rhonda); his grandsons, Austin Gilbert (Kaitlin Bowman), Brock Gilbert and Camden Gilbert; his stepgrandson Payton Bishop (Brooke Devaux); his great grandchildren, Olivia Bishop, Isabella Gilbert and Waylon Gilbert; and his siblings, Kenneth Gilbert (Virginia) and Bonnie Schilling (Bennie). He is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
