With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Eva Calais Flugence in Saint Joseph, Louisiana, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 4, 2025 at the age of 88. She was predeceased by: her spouse Francis Flugence, Sr.; her son Melvin J. Babineaux; her parents, George Calais and Fabiola Noel; her siblings, Eleanor White, Mable Enard, Daniel Calais and John Chester Calais; her grandchildren, Melvina Babineaux, Malcolm Babineaux and Trevor Da'Von Flugence Phillips; and her great grandchild Joseph Gary Amos, Jr..
She is survived by: her children, Joseph A. Babineaux (Shirlene) of Carencro, LA, Donald Kelly (Gail) of Lafayette, LA, Walter Flugence (Melissa) of Youngsville, LA and Clarissa Ann Flugence Phillips of Broussard, LA; her siblings, Joseph N. Calais of Lafayette, LA, Donald Kelly (Wanda) of Houston, TX, Gloria Jean Isadore of Lafayette, LA, Anna Lou Williams (Andrew) of St. Martinville, LA and Georgia Nell Calais of Houston, TX; and her extended family, Della Lewis of Lafayette, LA, Francis Flugence (Charlene) of Port Arthur, TX, Lilly Flugence of Port Arthur, TX and Walter Flugence (Tracy) of Duson, LA. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, May 10th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Syrie Funeral Home (1417 E Simcoe St, Lafayette, LA 70501). A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
