He is survived by: his caregiver Sherry Barnes Shields; his daughter Melissa Shields Holsapple; his grandsons, Brayden and Braxton; his son Eric Barnes; his grandchildren, Reese and Evan Barnes; his brother Baron Shields; and his sister-in-law Mary Ann. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, and a constellation of cousins.
