John leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. John’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around him. Though he is no longer with us, the moments shared, the laughter, and the support he offered will continue to resonate. All who knew John will carry forward his memory in their hearts.
He was predeceased by: his parents, George William Allender of Grafton and Carolyn Tapia Allender; and his brother James Hudson Allender. He is survived by: his wife Susan; his son David Cook Allender; and his sister-in-law Marinda Allender of Ft. Worth, TX. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Osborn Funeral Home (3631 Southern Ave, Shreveport, LA 71104). A celebration of life was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to The Bridge Alzheimer's & Dementia Resource Center in Shreveport; or LSU School of Veterinary Medicine.
