She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Valarus Kanapkey and Nina Edith Sandifer Kanapkey; her husband Thomas John Sowell, Jr. of Turner's Falls; her grandmother Edith Sandifer Kanapkey; her brothers, James Judson Kanapkey and Thomas Daniel Kanapkey; her brothers-in-law, Paul Gesn and Joel McIlwain; and her son-in-law Richard Dancy.
She is survived by: her sisters, Karen Kanapkey Gesn, Dian Kanapkey McIlwain and Veronica Ann Kanapkey; her children, Monica Sowell Dancy of Shreveport, Kevin Thomas Sowell (Renée) of Shreveport and Terri Sowell Mercer (Speedy) of Shreveport; her grandchildren, Heather Dancy Fatherree (Lee) of Shreveport, Geoffrey Thomas Dancy (Menaka Philips) of Toronto, Ontario, Lauren Sowell Christy (Justin) of Holly Springs and Kara Sowell Giudice (Drew) of Smyrna, Tennessee; and her great grandchildren, Gracie Lee Fatherree, Alexander Cass Fatherree, Jai Philips Dancy, Rami Philips Dancy, Senna Philips Dancy, Luke Thomas Christy, Grayson Fowler Christy and Palmer Josephine Giudice.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Ann's Catholic Church (2260 US-171, Keithville, LA 71078).
