He was predeceased by: his parents, William Joseph Getsinger, Sr. (Bill) and Lucille Young Getsinger; and his siblings, Joye Elizabeth Getsinger Songer and Larry Francis Getsinger, Sr.. He is survived by: his wife Betty McPhearson Getsinger; his stepdaughter Suzanne Getsinger Adams (Russell Adams); his stepgrandchildren, William Ernest Adams, Ansley Grace Adams and Benjamin Brooks Adams; his stepdaughter Holly Getsinger Schmidt (Curtis Schmidt); his stepgrandchildren, Ryan Hunter Schmidt, Jenna Claire Schmidt and Jason Cole Schmidt (Jase); and his sister-in-law Gloria McPhearson. He is also survived by two daughters and their spouses.
Visitation was held on Monday, December 8th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Rose Park Baptist Church (5560 Buncombe Rd, Shreveport, LA 71129). A celebration of life was held on Monday, December 8th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, St. Jude Children's Hospital, Rose Park Young at Heart Ministry, or Volunteers of America.
