He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Johnston and Vera Mae Johnston; his brother Jimmy Johnston; and his nephew Jerry Ray Johnston. He is survived by: his wife Irene; his brother Clifford Johnston (Novis); his children, Melinda Folse, Blake Johnston (Gaye) and Kyle Johnston (Heather); and his nephew Jody Johnston (Judy). He is also survived by grandchildren; seven beautiful great-grandchildren.
