He is survived by: his spouse Shirley Roseanne Hartle Coogan; his children, Christopher Anthony Coogan (Kimberly), Patrick Michael Coogan (Mariefe), Charles Alfred Coogan IV (Mindy) and Kelly Kathleen Coogan Jimenez (Robert); his sisters, Carolyn C. Schof (David) and Mary C. Schultz (Chris); his grandchildren, Andrew Coogan, Brandon Coogan, Tabitha Rodriguez, Patrick Coogan II, Katie Coogan, Christina McDaniel Upshaw, Ashley McDaniel Ouber, Palo Jimenez, Sienna Jimenez and Marco Jimenez; his great grandchildren, Gabriel Rodriguez, Aronne Rodriguez, Estephanie Rodriguez, Jasmine Rodriguez, Kyleigh Mae Rehage, Austin Sibley, Julian Upshaw, Kamrynn Ouber and Karson Ouber; and his great great grandchild Edsel William Sibley.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church (1050 Robert Blvd, Slidell, LA 70458). A Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. The military honors will be held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 at 12:30 PM at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery (34770 Grantham College Dr, Slidell, LA 70460).
He received the NASA Stennis Space Center Honoree Award for his significant contributions to the Nation's space program, the highest form of recognition bestowed upon an employee.
